The first day in Taibei city was quite relaxed and exciting. We met each other and introduced our universities to all the students and some of the teachers.

By the way, one of my dreams finally came true when I get the offer of BACT program. Traveling to Taiwan and studying in Taipei city is always one of my dream. I am really excited when I get here.

In the afternoon of the first day, we visited the National Taiwan Museum. It is a beautiful western style architecture. I learnt a lot about the history of Taiwan, including the development of Qipao, the biodiversity, the transportation and the traditional culture of Taiwanese aborigines. I mostly interested in the culture of Taiwanese aborigines. Different cultures always attract me a lot. In addition, the fossil skull of "Zuozheng Man" is really amazing. But I won't post the photo of skull of "Zuozheng Man", as it is a bit horrible.

Then we were going to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, but we finally gave up. That is because it was raining very heavily and lasted for a quite long time. We went to Ximen at that night. Ximen is an amazing place with much delicious food and nice shops. The night market in XImen is quite different from Gongguan night market. It is much bigger and more interesting. Ximen appears in a lot of Taiwanese movies and TV series. It is worth mentioning that we met a shop of creative and of character in Ximen. There are doodles drawn by high school students everywhere in that shop. That's really cool.

We attended the opening ceremony in the second day, and met most of our teachers and the dean of CIAERE. Then we visited the Gallery of NTU history. NTU is an excellent university of a long history. They help the government solve a lot of problems. The university badge of NTU is consisted of royal palm and fu bell. Fu bell remind students of being contemplative.
I also learnt a new name of Taiwan during the trip, that is Formosa. It's Japanese, and it means beautiful island. The solar car designed by NTU is also called FORMOSUN.

There is a special map in the floor of the gallery. It is a map of NTU campus. Red spots represent different buildings. That is interesting.

I get familar with the NTU campus by playing a game called Scavenger Hunt-getting. That is interesting, but it made me be very tired, as it was really hot in Taipei city and NTU campus is large. By the way, NTU campus is beautiful, especially the royal palm avenue. There are 102 royal palms in total on campus.
The Fu Bell is built by president Fu. It rings 21 times when class is over. That is because president Fu said that there are 21 hours one day. The rest 3 hours are used for thinking. President Fu build Fu Bell to remain his students of thinking.

In the afternoon, we had our first lecture and second lecture. The first lecture is about the animal and plant of Taiwan. It is impressed that 60% of Taiwan is covered by forests. The other lecture is about the insects of Taiwan. It is the first time for me to learn something about insects, including how to recognize insects and the characteristics of many species.

June 25th was a sunny day. We went to the farm of NTU, and stayed under the sun for 1 hour. It was really hot, even it is in the morning. I really had fun course it is the first time for me to experience farm practice. Then we had three lectures after coming back from the farm.
Try to be a good farmer
In the night, we went to Fuyang park for frog observation. We saw seven frogs species. And we also see some other species, such as Indian big snail and big head snake. Although I major in forestry, I am afraid of tiny, moving things. So the snails and insects really scared me.

I went biking with other 5 people along the road beside Qingdian River in the night. It was a nice trip. It is really cool to biking beside a river. The temperature is much lower. Besides, it is quiet there. Ruby brought us many snacks and fruits. :) They are delicious.

June 26th had been the most interesting day so far. We visited the National Museum of Marien Science and Technology. I saw a lot of amazing marine species there, and even some species living in deep ocean.

In the afternoon, we went to Northeast coast intertidal zone to learn marine biodiversity. The beach in Taiwan is quite different from that in Vancouver. It's rock beach. I tried the local special drink made from seaweed and black suger.
